2Sleeves Tear Way Too Easily! Better Options Out There.  Aug 17, 2011 By Daniel T.
I bought these sleeves for my 8-year-old brother's Pokemon card deck. We are both avid players, and my deck had sleeves (the same brand, but blue), so he was pretty excited to get some card sleeves of his own! Once we received the sleeves and started testing them, however, we ran into a few problems, and I would NOT recommend these sleeves for use.

Pros:
- Keeps your cards protected. Let's face it, that's probably the main reason why someone would buy sleeves, and they get their job done for the most part (hold that thought until the cons).
- Aesthetics. These sleeves go great with a fire deck! Also, if you're like me and managing multiple decks, it helps to have various colored sleeves, to ensure none of the cards get mixed up.

Cons:
- Poor quality. My blue sleeves tear along the edges every once in a while, which is no big deal, and one of the reasons why I bought my little brother the same brand, only red, since he has a fire deck. These red sleeves, for whatever reason, tear much more often than my blue sleeves. First shuffle I did to show him how to shuffle, and two of the sleeves had already torn! We went to our local Pokemon League a week later, and about halfway into his first game, at least half of the sleeves were torn. Thankfully, his opponent was a good sport about it, and let my little brother switch the torn sleeves as we saw them with another brand which I recommend (I'll make my recommendations toward the end of the review). This alone was the deal breaker for me.
- Physical size of the deck increases. The physical size of the deck will triple, or even quadruple, with these sleeves. Not too big of an issue with the older players with bigger hands, but for a young player with small hands, this becomes a problem. My little brother struggles to shuffle the deck properly without having his cards go flying all over the place. It gets better with practice, but for the younger players, I would suggest them not having sleeves to start with, since learning how to shuffle sleeveless is a good skill to have for the game.
-The backs of the cards are visible through the sleeve backs. This may not necessarily be an issue, but with sleeves, I don't really like seeing the backs of the cards. I guess it's because I'm an old-school Pokemon player, back when decks with sleeves were pretty much required to have the backs be non-visible, thanks to cards like Ancient Mew. My blue sleeves are fine in this respect, and the backs of the cards don't show, oddly enough.

In conclusion, Ultra Pro typically makes a good product, as you'll see in my recommendations, but I don't recommend these sleeves for any circumstance. Sure, they keep your cards protected, but they quickly start tearing at the edges, becoming useless.

Recommendations
- If you want to protect your deck, and spend about the same amount of money as these sleeves, I recommend 100 Count Blue Deck Protector Sleeves. I have only had two of these tear on me in the month that I have had them, and the backs are not see-through.
- I replaced my little brother's sleeves with these: Ultra Pro Japanese Green Deck Protectors (100 Sleeves). Yes, they are green, but that's his favorite color, and they hold up a lot better. They're slightly more expensive, but you get what you paid for, and I can't complain about these sleeves.
- For younger players, I can't really recommend sleeves. The sleeves make the decks rather large, thus making shuffling rather cumbersome for small hands. I realize that some of these decks can get expensive (my little brother's deck cost me around $60!), so it's wise to protect your investment, and ultimately, the decision's up to you. That being said, my little brother has adjusted to the sleeves and is having less problems with them the more he practices, but the size is still a problem.

4Great basic covers  Nov 18, 2010 By A. Jones "Andy"
Red card covers for collectible card games. I use these for MtG. I recommend them, they're durable and they look good.

2Tearing up... already?!  Dec 11, 2010 By Jon C.
I was really excited to get Ultra Pro sleeves, because I think they look sharp. I play a lot of CCG's, so there's always a need around my house for them.

When they arrived, I immediately put some of my naked decks into them, and the first thing I noticed is how slippery they are. Holding a standard 60-card deck by the top and bottom card, the middle of the deck came sliding out and cards went everywhere! So that's annoying, but not a deal breaker.

The deal breaker was when I went to shuffle the deck - not with a bridge, but edge-to-edge - and the corners of the open end tore open on a couple cards! My FIRST time shuffling the deck! I've used the sleeves with pictures on them before, and I've never seen them tear like that!

Very disappointing. Only buy these sleeves if you're looking for something cheap (in both senses of the word).

3Be Warned  Apr 14, 2012 By killer5079
MTG players be warned i got these for my werewolf deck and you can compleltely see through the back of the slevees making it more or less useless

5Better than expected  Mar 06, 2012
These sleeves are quite good, they have a nice texture in back part and a smooth clear in the front, the silver dot in the bottom saying ultra pro doesn't cover the attack/defense of monster in magic the gathering cards, which made me wonder.
I have to say that I'm quite surprised with the quality for the price.
